NON Bridal Session

ATTN: THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL BRIDAL SESSION

Katie was supposed to be married by now. She was supposed to have a different last name, a new family and a different life.

Last summer Katie and her fiancé decided to call off their wedding just a couple of months before their wedding date. It was an ugly breakup and since the save the dates had been sent out and the travel plans had been made by family and friends, it was made more public than it should have been. And while it was devastating and humiliating at the time, it was the BEST thing that could have ever happened to her.

See, she was not in a healthy relationship, but had no idea at the time. Without getting into it too much, let’s just say there were a lot of red flags that were ignored. They were both so young when they were planning on getting married. Katie was only 24 at this time and she truly believes that this is one of the many reasons they didn’t work out. Neither of them had grown into who they were meant to be.

Katie has grown so much over the last year alone. She has truly found who she is as a person and is okay with the unknown of her future. In fact, she’s excited about all of the possibilities.

I have been lucky enough to watch this entire transformation. I’ve known her since she was engaged and obviously I still know her now. We decided that the best way to get closure and finally close this chapter of her life was to hike a mountain with her wedding dress and take some super fun pictures! We took the time to reflect on the last year and how far she’s come!

We literally had the best time at Max Patch. We even made some friends with a dog who hopped in a for a few pictures!

If you are like Katie and something fell through with your wedding plans, I hope you can find the silver lining like she has. Furthermore, don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t have a bridal session even if you aren’t technically a bride anymore. Katie rocked her wedding dress, drank champagne and felt like a princess for a night. She then donated her wedding dress to those in need. Honestly I can’t think of a better way to move on.
